About Me

Hello! My name is Sean Lockhart, and I am an undergraduate student at the University of Colorado Boulder. I am currently a senior with an expected graduation date of December 2025. My focus area is radiofrequency and microwave engineering. Upon graduation, I plan to pursue a career in wireless communications, RF PCB design, or antenna design.

My Background

At the University of Colorado Boulder, I concentrate my academic studies on radio frequency and microwave engineering. My coursework has included S-parameters, Smith chart analysis, impedance matching, waveguides, antennas, and network analysis. For my senior capstone project, I collaborated with a team to design and build a radiometer for soil moisture measurements, operating in the S, C, and X frequency bands. Over the past summer, I worked at the Center for Environmental Technology, where I used Altium Designer to develop an RF PCB to operate with an array of Vivaldi antennas in the P and L band frequency ranges. I also have experience coding in Python and MATLAB for data analysis, and I am proficient with LTSpice and AWR Microwave Office for circuit analysis and simulation. Beyond my coursework, I also work as a laboratory assistant on a private research project aimed at achieving thermonuclear fusion using deuterium as the fuel source.
